Samoset Council has prided itself in providing the finest camping programs in Scouting nationwide, and along with fine programs, the best staff to carry out those programs! 

Whether you worked one summer or 15 summers, we all have special memories of a place which changed our lives. The SCAA hopes to give you the opportunity to experience camp once again and to connect you with other alumni through alumni events and fundraisers both at camp and in our communities.

What We Do: 

  • Staff Mentorship & Development- In the lead up to the summer, we help support events like Staff Weekend and Staff Weeks, leading training, providing feedback, and participating in program walkthroughs. 

  • Fundraise for Camp & Staff - The SCAA works to serve as an auxiliary system for camp, helping fund purchases that otherwise would not be possible, with a focus on supporting staff. SCAA donations have gone to items such as improving staff living quarters and lounges, buying additional equipment, and improving Wifi. Learn more about our current fundraisers below. 

  • Reconnect Alumni and Fellowship - Through events such as the Alumni Takeover (in July) and Camp Reunions, we also provide a space for Alumni to come back and be a kid again, reconnect with friends, and have fun at camp.

What we have done in the past: 

  • (2022-2023) Winter Camp Gatherings for Staff.

  • (2024) Staff Winter Dells Trip.

  • Organized the Akela’s World 30th Reunion (2023) and Tesomas 90th Reunion (2025).

  • (2022-present) Cooking and volunteering at trainings at Staff Weekends.

  • (2024-present) Director Mentorships and Training Weekends.

  • (2024-present) Alumni Patrol during Staff Week Two.

  • (2022-2024, 2026-onwards) Alumni Takeover Events at Tesomas and Akela’s World.

Membership:

If you worked at any of Samoset Council’s camps including Tesomas, Akela’s World, Hanna Venture Base, Winter Camp, or Camp Chickagami, you are part of the SCAA! No dues required. Please recharter with us each fall to keep your contact info up to date.

OUR BOARD

About the Board;

The SCAA is lead by a Board of Directors elected annually, each summer at the Alumni Takeover. Six Board members represent the Alumni and serve a 2 year term, a 7th board member is a current camp staff member and serves a 1 year term. The president is elected each year.

Consider Joining The Board

We are always looking for new board members. Elections are held each July, applications will be posted here and on our communication channels. If you have questions and are interested in joining send your questions here: Alumni@campingisking.com

Elections:

Elections are held each year in July during the Alumni Takeover. The ballot is posted online and open for typically a few days. Each SCAA member is able to vote.

Standing Committee's of the Board:

Any SCAA member is welcomed to join the standing Committee's, contact Alumni@campingisking.com if you're interested.
